Structure-preserving finite elements for magnetohydrodynamics
Wolf Nederpel

Supervisor TU Delft: Deepesh Toshniwal
Supervisor Netherlands eScience Center: Artur Palha

start of the project: December 2022

The Master project has been finished in October 2023 by the completion of the Masters Thesis and a final presentation has been given.

For working address etc. we refer to our alumnipage.

Summary of the master project:
This MSc project will develop a finite element scheme for magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in 3D. The scheme will use B-spline differential forms as the foundation. The intended outcome of the project is a numerical method that can exactly preserve many of the physical conservation laws that underlie the MHD problem, such as the law of mass conservation and Gauss magnetic law.
